We have a wonderful community of senior players who play most mornings and nights and have been playing at the Brookfield Tennis Centre for decades and bring much laughter and character to our Centre.
Roanne Lemmon-Warde (Club Professional Coach)
Roanne began playing tennis at the age of 7. She was ranked top SA junior girl from U12 to U18. She was selected for the South African Junior team to tour Europe and participate in various overseas tournaments including Junior Wimbledon, French Open, Italian Open and numerous other tournaments around the world. She was awarded a full tennis scholarship to attend Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
Roanne has 15 years coaching experience. She coached in the USA, Germany, South Africa and now in Australia. She managed and coached various State Teams in South Africa.
She has been coaching tennis for 7 years in Australia. She is also employed as a Tennis Australia Talent Development Coach as well as being a Super 10’s coach.
Roanne currently plays Fixtures in the top division of the Brisbane Ladies Tennis League with Sharon, as well as playing in the some AMT or Seniors tournaments.
Costa Skopelitis (Club Professional Coach)
Costa began playing tennis at the age of 4. He went onto become the top ranked South African Junior from U12 to U18. He was invited to be part of the Super Squad that trained under Craig Tiley in the USA after completing his schooling. He was the number 1 Men’s Amateur player in South Africa from 2005 to 2006.
Represented SA in 2006 Kia Amateur Australian Open World Finals in Melbourne.
He has 24 years coaching experience. Costa has done the majority of his coaching in South Africa as well as coaching various players on the ATP tour as SA’s National Men’s Super-Squad coach. He has also coached in the USA, Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
He has coached players competing at the Australian Open, US Open and Wimbledon . He was the National coach for junior overseas squads that travelled to Europe and USA (1994 – 1995). Before Emigrating to Australia, Costa was the Owner and Head Coach of Star Tennis Academy in SA (1994-2017).
John Lemmon-Warde (Junior Development Coach)
John played tennis growing up and participated in numerous junior tournaments in South Africa.
John has been coaching tennis for the last 6 years in Australia. John is also a Tennis Australia Super 10’s Coach.
Sharon has been coaching tennis at the Brookfield Tennis Centre for 12 years. She started playing tennis at the age of 8, going on to play tournaments and represent Qld at numerous National competitions. She also represented Qld in Indoor Netball.
Sharon Completed a Diploma of Teaching (Physical Education) in 1985 and taught at Boonah, Chinchilla and Toowong State High Schools. During her teaching years, Sharon managed and coached Qld Secondary Schools Tennis Teams at National Championships. Sharon currently plays Fixtures in the top division of the Brisbane Ladies Tennis League on a Wednesday, as well as playing in the odd AMT or Seniors Tournament.
Heath Johnston (Junior Development Coach)
Heath has joined us from Adelaide. He first started playing tennis when he was 5 years old.
Heath has competed in many tournaments growing up. He attended St Michaels School in Adelaide, where he played as the number 1 player in Years 11 and 12 and captained the team during his final year at school. Heath also competed in the top division in men’s league in Adelaide. Currently Heath plays AMT tournaments and also plays Super Grade league on Saturdays.
Heath has been coaching tennis for 5 years.
Andrew Steffen (Junior Development Coach)
Andy started playing from the age of 5, progressing quickly into playing junior tournaments and successfully competed against the top junior players throughout his junior years.
Andy began his 14 year coaching career focussing specifically on junior tennis.
In 2008 after moving to London, he received his LTA level 3( British Tennis) qualification and worked at a junior high performance academy in Surrey. There he had the privilege to coach some of the top junior players in Surrey (the red ball boys no.1, the green ball boys no.1).
Andy gained valuable experience during this time and progressed his coaching career by working at The Riverside Virgin Health and Racquet club in London. The club played host to the junior national academy, only accepting the top 100 junior players from Britain for u8 red ball to Junior Wimbledon players. Having worked at the club for 3 years, he had the opportunity to work with the top junior players and coaches in Britain. Andy was part of a team who coached a number of boys and girls who played in junior Wimbledon during this time.
In 2014, having worked with many junior high performance players at a county/state and national level, Andy shifted his focus to grassroots junior tennis and accepted the post of Junior Tennis Manager at David Lloyd Sudbury Hill Health and Racquet club, London. He worked there for almost 2 years, focussing on beginner club juniors before immigrating to Australia in 2016 where he recently worked at Tennisgear in Brisbane.
